Delve into the roots of modern marketing, connecting dots you wouldn’t have thought connected.

Edward Bernays helped cigarette companies get women to smoke. How did he do it? Marketing/PR/Propaganda, that’s how.
He gathered together a group of women and put them in the center city square, posed them smoking, took a photo, and printed a write up in the newspaper.
He then turned to the fashion industry, you see, the cigarette companies brand color was green and not a nice color women wore.
He was able to coerce the fashion industry to put out green garments for next season, and ran a big fancy ball party where the guests had to wear, you guessed it, the cigarette brand colors green.

Women began smoking…branding under the campaign “Freedom Torches for Women”.
Edward Bernays proved himself time and time again, winning even a president election for his client.
He even attracted the Nazi’s with his prowess in propaganda.
“In the 1920s, Joseph Goebbels became an avid admirer of Bernays and his writings – despite the fact that Bernays was a Jew. When Goebbels became the minister of propaganda for the Third Reich, he sought to exploit Bernays’ ideas to the fullest extent possible. For example, he created a “Fuhrer cult” around Adolph Hitler.”
– The Conversation
Obviously, the word propaganda began to get a bad rep, but continued the ideas thriving in dictatorships from Nazi Germany, to Cuba, to the modern day globalist corporations we fight today that American companies have sold us out under!
Propaganda was smoothed into Public Relations, and PR into Marketing.
