Lacking Unity Among those who proclaim Christ as Lord?
If we are having constant arguments with fellow believers, than we can come to the conclusion that either one, or both parties, are being affected by a lack of humility in specifics, more than likely about things that are not important to true saving grace (a constant faith and trust in the finished work and blood of Jesus Christ as Lord).
All other contentious fighting and arguing are merely unnecessary and, as Paul states in his Philippians letter, are due to a lack of humility, and an act of conceit or selfish ambition.
I find myself that there are usually contentions is trying to sound intellectual, holy or just winning an argument and being “right” about any given topic.
We can come to the conclusion that believers will not have unity until they humble themselves, and seek only to know Christ and Him Crucified, as Paul states, uplifting one another without condemnation or wrath, which Jesus states not even he came to condemn the world but to save it, for those who do not believe in Him are condemned already, and then leading from a place of love, patience and grace.
Shortly before He went to the cross, Jesus prayed for unity among His followers: “Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, so that they may be one as we are one” (John 17:11).
Later in the same prayer, Jesus asked “that all of them may be one, Father, just as you are in me and I am in you. May they also be in us. . . . I have given them the glory that you gave me, that they may be one as we are one—I in them and you in me—so that they may be brought to complete unity” (John 17:21–23). Obviously, Christian unity is important to our Lord.

Patience in love is critical, just as is giving the truth in love – Ephesians 4:15. [truth without love is abusive, and love without truth is damning] With patience we can give grace and understand that not all believers in Christ Jesus are at the same level of growth and maturity. We understand that our own paths are riddled with sin and failure, we recognize how long it took for us to understand His Word as we consume it day and night, wrestling with our faith while being in this lost, broken world.
We understand the antagonist component that the enemy utilizes against humanity, but especially against those of the faith, who is used to constantly test those who claim to trust in God, even unto death.
Sometimes, when we are tested, we can easily become angry with Jesus Christ, and this reveals how little faith we do have. Thankfully, Jesus Christ only needs a small amount of faith, and as we seen in the lives of the chosen twelve, that he chooses to use weak, broken vessels that do not speak with amazing speech or human wisdom (1 Corinthians 2:1) in order to sway you into believing in Christ Jesus our Lord and Savior.
If our focus isn’t complete humble service to Jesus Christ and loving those we know to be truly His, there will not be a true unity among believers.
